Gas prices have been stratospheric in Europe and high from China to Brazil\, with a massive increase in the United States. \nU.S. energy prices drove inflation in the 1970s\, which in turn drove up electricity prices. A big question now is how electricity prices will be affected by Russia’s war on Ukraine: can utilities hold the line\, or will force majeure come into play\, adding to consumer woes? \nAnother question is whether the fast-paced transition to renewables will be put on hold due to the possibility of the world being cut off to Russia’s critical minerals supply. There has already been a shortage resulting in a huge surge in the price of nickel. \nThese questions and more will be addressed in this briefing\, which will consist of a panel of experts taking questions from a panel of knowledgeable journalists.
