SUMMARY:USEA Briefing - Infrastructure Spending: Pennies From Heaven Or Green Stress?
DESCRIPTION:TUNE IN Wednesday\, Dec 15\, 2021 at 11 AM ET for the United States Energy Association’s virtual press briefing on Infrastructure Spending: Pennies From Heaven Or Green Stress? \nREGISTER HERE \nTantalus CEO Peter Londa will be part of the panel of experts talking about when and how the funds will be disbursed. \nThe U.S. electric utilities\, from big IOUs to distribution-only rural electric cooperatives\, are waiting to see how the $1 trillion infrastructure bill\, which President Biden signed into law on November 15\, will affect them. The best estimate is that about $73 billion will make its way directly to the electric utility industry. \nThere is a growing consensus in the industry that transmission is a national priority\, and that broadband will get a needed boost. But some fear that remnants of the Green New Deal will emerge in the administration of the funds\, forcing utilities into actions which they believe to be detrimental. Friction is possible. \nThe Department of Energy\, the principal disbursing agent\, is holding meetings\, requesting information\, and beginning to establish procedures and priorities. How vocal should utilities be? Will they all be heard? \nDOE won’t be the only agency concerned with grid upgrading and other projects. The Environmental Protection Agency\, the Department of Homeland Security\, the Department of the Interior\, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will be involved too. \nUSEA has assembled a panel of utility experts to talk about when and how the funds will be disbursed. They will be questioned by a panel of knowledgeable reporters. USEA Acting Executive Director Sheila Hollis will give opening remarks\, and Llewellyn King\, who organized this briefing\, will moderate. \nSpeakers\nJustin Driscoll\, Interim President & CEO\, New York Power Authority\nAndrew Shaw\, Partner\, Dentons\nKatie Jereza\, Vice President of Corporate Affairs\, EPRI\nPeter Londa\, President & CEO\, Tantalus \nReporters\nRobert Walton\, Utility Dive\nEllie Potter\, S&P Global\nJeff Beattie\, The Energy Daily\nKen Silverstein\, Forbes

SUMMARY:CARILEC Renewable Energy & Smart Grid Conference & Trade Show
DESCRIPTION:Theme: Remodeling the Future: Stronger. Greener. Smarter \nWhat does a stronger\, greener\, and smarter energy future look like for our energy markets? Against the triple imperatives of economics\, climate resilience and domestic value creations\, CARILEC gathers regional and global industry leaders representing policy\, regulation\, academic research\, renewable technologies and utility operations to the table under the theme “Remodeling the Future: Stronger. Greener. Smarter.”  \nWith the COVID-19 global pandemic continuing to pose a dramatic challenge to energy leaders in the Caribbean region\, the urgency for sustainable energy transition has become clearer than ever.  The advantages of renewable energy and its resiliency to weather the rising economic storm\, if accordingly planned and designed\, were already visible in different impacted regions throughout the world. Investments to foster a cleaner and greener energy supply have brought not only environmental but also substantial local benefits. The crisis has provided a first\, unexpected foreshadowing of the mounting climate emergency and the vulnerability of our economies and their energy systems. The pandemic has shown how quickly all we are accustomed to\, can change. But it has also demonstrated that collectively and with a common purpose\, we are able to act decisively. During the recent years\, a global effort has been made to develop innovative technology solutions\, effective policy measures and new economic approaches to turn renewable energy into a competitive and reliable source for electricity generation and supply. Now it is the right moment to reassess long-standing assumptions\, perceived barriers\, and default decisions to adjust and redefine the pathway for sustainable energy transition in the Caribbean. \nThe Renewable Energy and Smart Grid Conference and Trade Show offers the latest expert insights\, innovative technology solutions and room for exchange of best-practices and experiences regarding the sustainable integration of Renewable Energy and the related development of Smart Grids in our Caribbean countries. Stakeholders from the region and around the world will meet to exchange and discuss ideas\, opportunities\, and solutions to accelerate energy transition\, strengthen the economic recovery\, bolster sustainable development\, and set the course for a further decarbonization of the Caribbean energy sector. This year’s conference will also feature a Women in Renewable Energy (WIRE) convening with women leaders throughout the energy sector in the Caribbean and beyond delivering presentations and facilitating discussions on their critical role and stellar contribution to the sector. \nSecure your space at this two (2) day conference which will be replete with virtual presentations\, lectures\, large and small group plenaries\, and case studies.  Get the latest developments on savvy trends and technologies in this rapidly evolving and dynamic field.

SUMMARY:Webinar | An Introduction to Smart Grid Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Utilities are under substantial pressure to “keep the lights on” despite disruptions from extreme weather\, mandates to decarbonize and the adoption of electric vehicles and roof-top solar panels by consumers. Despite these disruptions\, utilities are expected to deliver safe\, reliable and affordable services while relying on distribution grids that were not designed to meet the needs and demands of the 21st century. In order to meet today’s challenges\, utilities must transform existing infrastructure to create intelligent\, digital networks of connected devices to support the electrification of everything. \nPlease join Peter Londa\, President & CEO of Tantalus Systems\, and members of the Tantalus team who will provide a demonstration of the company’s solutions to digitize the distribution grid and help build sustainable and reliable utilities for the future. \nRegister Now >>

SUMMARY:2021 Smart(er) Grid Series - Advanced Metering Infrastructure
DESCRIPTION:Hear Tantalus present at the NWPPA 2021 Smart(er) Grid Series – Advanced Metering Infrastructure. \nImplementing AMI opens the door to new value opportunities for utilities and their customers. While the upfront cost is high and a significant resource commitment will be required\, the long-term value can be substantial. It is up to each utility to understand AMI’s value potential and arrive at their own decision and path forward. \nThis is a four-part webinar series that can be taken as individual webinars or as a full series. More information. \nRegister here for the series. \nIndividual courses:\nOverview of the AMI Journey\, May 4\, 2021 \nWhy are utilities talking about AMI? While the answer is not the same for everyone\, each utility has a goal to meet evolving customer needs and make future decisions with the customer in mind. Before implementing AMI\, it is essential to understand the overall journey and high-level considerations through an organizational lens. \nAMI Readiness & Strategy\, June 8\, 2021 \nThe more that organizations understand the AMI process from A to Z and align their thinking and goals\, the more effectively they will be able to assess their AMI readiness and develop an actionable AMI strategy. \nAMI Implementation Planning\, July 13\, 2021 \nThis session will provide a clear understanding of how AMI will transform the organization and insights\, as well as practical tools that will help prepare your organization to understand and limit the risk that could derail the implementation(s) over time. This session will help you understand how AMI will holistically impact the organization and change its business unit processes. \nAMI Post Implementation and Looking Ahead\, July 20\, 2021 \nThis session will offer practical insights and ideas to support a series of AMI programs and projects representing a continuation of the initial effort. You will become familiar with best practice techniques and tools to support future AMI implementation planning efforts based on each successive project effort’s outcomes. You will also hear insights into possible ways of structuring both premortem and post-mortems as part of the AMI roadmap.
