Mr. Williams was previously employed by Appalachian Electric Cooperative located in East Tennessee where he held various positions beginning as an Electrical Engineer, VP of Engineering and Operations and finally his last twelve years as General Manager/Executive Vice President. He was employed at AEC for forty years and recently retired in December 2022. He also served on the Board of Directors for the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation for five years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA) for six years, of which he was Chair of the Board for 3 of those years. He also served on the Board of Trustees for the Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association for four years. He served on various committees including the Rates and Pricing Committee, the Energy Services Committee as Chair, and the Research and Development Committee for TVPPA. He also served on two industrial development agencies located in North East TN. He is a graduate from Carson-Newman University with a BS in Pre-Engineering and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has been married to Lisa for 43 years and they have two sons and seven grandchildren. He is currently working part time as a subject matter expert with MESA Associates, Inc. in Knoxville, TN, a consulting engineering firm. He also helps out with bookkeeping at their family hardware business in Jefferson City, TN.
