Chair Laura Formusa to leverage utility expertise to support growth of Tantalus
RALEIGH, NC – Nov 12, 2018 —Tantalus Systems, a technology company that helps utilities make smart decisions, announced today that Laura Formusa, former CEO of Hydro One, will become the new Chair of the company’s Board of Directors.
“I am looking forward to taking a more active role supporting Tantalus,” said Laura Formusa. “As the new Chair, and with the support of our Board and executive team, we will continue assisting utilities in adopting technology to innovate and modernize distribution networks.”
Laura joined the Tantalus Board in October 2017 and brings more than 30 years of experience in the utilities industry. She served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro One Inc. from 2007 until her retirement at the end of 2012. Her leadership experience extends beyond the utility sector as she also serves on the Boards of Enmax, 407 International, and Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada. In addition, Laura sits on the Boards of ICES and York University.
“Bringing Laura on as Chair will catapult Tantalus forward as a leading smart grid and smart city provider to the Municipal and Cooperative utility industry,” said John McEwen, who will remain on the Board of Directors representing one of the company’s venture capital investors after serving as Chair of Tantalus since 2001. “Based on Tantalus’ continued growth and success, we are at a point when our organization can truly benefit from Laura’s leadership and industry expertise.”
“John’s contributions as Chair of Tantalus over the past 17 years are considerable and immeasurable,” said Peter Londa, Tantalus President and CEO. “As Chair, he helped Tantalus successfully deploy a series of strategic initiatives, including our 3rd generation platform with embedded distributed computing to deliver value in an extremely complex market. Our entire team fully appreciates his strategic, long-term view and commitment to our success.”
“While we look forward to continuing to have John contribute on our Board, we are also extremely excited to welcome Laura as our new Chair,” continued Londa. “We look forward to utilizing her expertise as an executive from the utility industry to ensure we remain singularly focused on improving our customer service and support while also gaining her perspective on the rapidly changing utility industry to help guide Tantalus’ strategic vision.”
Ms. Formusa will be a featured speaker at the 10th Annual Tantalus Users Conference on November 13, 2018 in Vancouver, BC. She will be sharing her perspectives on the challenges confronting the utility industry and her vision on how Tantalus can partner with utilities to improve customer service, reliability and operating efficiency.
