Laura Formusa Appointed to Tantalus Board of Directors

Company adds 30-year utility executive to advance technology adoption with utilities

RALEIGH, N.C. – October 10, 2017 — Tantalus Systems a technology company that helps utilities make smart decisions, announced today that Laura Formusa, former CEO of Ontario electric utility Hydro One, has joined the company’s board of directors. In her new role, Formusa will tap into her vast industry experience to help guide Tantalus’ strategic vision and grow the company’s customer base.

“Technology is critical to the modernization of the grid and to utilities’ continued leadership in energy services,” said Laura Formusa. “My goal in joining Tantalus’ board of directors is to further utilities’ adoption of advanced technologies that will help them innovate and compete in a rapidly changing market. The company’s TUNet technology presents modern utilities with the unique opportunity to create one fixed network on which multiple applications – from streetlights to load management devices in the home – can be measured and managed digitally.“

Before joining the Tantalus Board, Formusa served as the President and CEO of Hydro One. She first joined Hydro One in 1980, holding several leadership roles including Vice President and General Counsel before being named CEO. Formusa comes with more than 30 years of experience in the utilities industry and deep expertise in energy management technologies.

“We are humbled to have someone of Laura’s distinguished expertise and leadership join our board of directors,” said Tantalus’ President and CEO, Peter Londa. “Our shared commitment to the success of the utility industry is the cornerstone of our future work together. Her insights will support our expanding customer base of utilities across North America, the Caribbean Basin, Central America and Latin America.“

“Formusa’s leadership spans beyond the utility sector. She also serves on the boards of Enmax, 407 International, Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada and the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences. In addition, Laura sits on the board of governors of York University. Formusa was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network and is now in the organization’s Hall of Fame.
